FERRUM, Va. -- Lynchburg College hit 10 three-pointers and had six players in double figures en route to an 88-85 non-conference men's basketball win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Swartz Gym.
The Panthers trailed 48-43 at halftime.
Shon Goode's layup at 11:26 of the second half gave Ferrum a 61-60 lead, but the Hornets scored the next six points to go up 66-61.
Alek Ayer's layup at 1:26 pulled the Panthers (4-5) into a tie at 81-81, but Lynchburg closed he game with a 7-4 spurt.
Lamont King led the Panthers with 22 points, while
Jamal Pullen had 16 and
Marshall Hamilton had 12. King added five assists, four rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot to his total. Hamilton had seven assists and two steals.
Donte Thomas had nine points, shooting 3-4 from behind the three-point arc, and Ayer had eight points.
Michael Wims had 17 points and Brandan Connor had 14 points for the Hornets (8-2). Xavier Parham and Manny Hernandez had 13 points each, Austin Chillemi had 11 points and Austen Arnold had 10 points.
Coach Bill Tharp's team will break for the holidays then returns to action Saturday, Dec. 29, at home against North Carolina Wesleyan College. The USA South Athletic Conference game gets underway at 4:00 p.m. at Swartz Gym.
