FERRUM, Va. -- Marcel Crump had 22 points, and David Falk had 21 points and 17 rebounds to lead Eastern Mennonite University to a 91-85 non-conference men's basketball win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Swartz Gymnasium.
The Royals led 43-39 at halftrime, then widened the lead to 55-46 on Falk's jumper at the 15:29 mark of the second half. The Panthers went on an 8-0 run from there, tying the score 55-55 on a pair of
Brian Clarke free throws at 13:10. Ferrum took its first lead at 11:19 when
Alek Ayers converted two free throws to put the Panthers out in front temporarily at 59-58.
Ferrum would tie the game once more at 77-77 on
Jamal Pullen's jumper with just over four minutes left in regulation. Eastern Mennonite went on a 12-5 run from there to go up 89-82 with 27 seconds left, capped by two Woody Forbush free throws, and held on for the win.
Pullen had 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Panthers (3-2), while Clarke had 17 points and 10 assists.
Tyler Mann added 17 points in the loss, including a 4-5 clip from behind the arc, and Ayers closed with 13 points. Ryan Yates had 18 points for the Royals (3-2), RJ Sims had 15 points and James Williams had 13 points.
Following a short Thanksgiving break, Coach Bill Tharp's team will return to action Monday, Dec. 2, at Lynchburg College. The non-conference game tips off at 7:00 p.m. in Lynchburg, Virginia.
