SALEM, Va. -- Daniel Eacho had 15 points on 7-15 shooting and added nine rebounds to lead Roanoke College to an 80-65 non-conference men's basketball win over Ferrum College tonight at the Homer C. Bast Center.
Roanoke led 47-28 at halftime. Ferrum closed the gap to nine points midway through the second half when
Jamal Pullen made a jumper at the 10:59 mark to cut the Maroons' lead to 61-52. Roanoke closed with a 19-13 run from there to seal the win. Andrew Daniels and Carter Wright scored 12 points each for the Maroons, while Julian Ramirez chipped in 10 points.
Ferrum won the rebounding battle 42-33.
Rashawn Speas led the Panthers with 22 points on 11-14 shooting from the floor, and added seven rebounds. Pullen had 17 points,
Marvin Wilson added 12 points and
Josh Dudley dished out seven assists.
Ferrum (4-5) plays next on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at NCAA Div. I opponent High Point University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in High Point, North Carolina. Following the holiday break, Coach Bill Tharp's team will host a pair of USA South teams Friday and Saturday, Jan. 2-3. The Panthers play Covenant (Ga.) College Friday at 5:30 p.m., then Maryville (Tenn.) College Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Both games are part of league doubleheaders in which the women's games will follow the men immediately.
