FERRUM, Va. -- Khory Moore had 29 points to lead #12 Virginia Wesleyan College to an 86-67 non-conference men's basketball win over Ferrum College this afternoon at Swartz Gym. Moore was 6-9 from behind the three-point line for the Marlins
Ferrum jumped out to a 4-0 lead, only to see Virginia Wesleyan go on a 15-2 run in opening a 15-6 lead at the 14:23 mark. WVC led 47-29 at halftime, and led by as many as 26 points in the second half at 74-48 when Greg Montgomery converted a pair of free throws with 7:20 left to play.
Montgomery added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Marlins (6-1).
Jamal Pullen had 25 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers, while
Alek Ayer and
D'Andre Mullen chipped in 11 points each.
Ferrum (4-4) will break for finals, but returns to action Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 16-17, with a pair of road games to close out the first semester. Coach Bill Tharp's team plays at Roanoke College Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in Salem, Virginia. The Panthers will then play at NCAA Div. I opponent High Point University Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in High Point, North Carolina.
