HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, Virginia -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team dropped an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game inside Kirby Field House Wednesday night, 74-68. It was the first time Ferrum has taken on the Tigers this year, but the third game they have played inside Kirby Field House on the season.

THE BASICS
The first half was played pretty even throughout, with neither team able to jump out to a double-digit lead. Hampden-Sydney took control of the opening stanza with a quick 8-0 run in the finals minutes, and the Tigers headed into the locker room for the halftime break leading 35-30.
Hampden-Sydney used a big half from Kevin Quinn to grab the lead at the break. Quinn was the only Tiger in double figures in the half with 11. Jack Wyatt was close behind with nine points to go along with four dimes. Jake Hahn had a strong statline as well in the opening half, recording five points to add to his five assists, three rebounds, and three steals. For the Panthers, Kajuan Madden-McAfee jumped out to the hot start with 12 points in the first half, which led all scorers. To go along with his 12 points, Madden-McAfee had five boards and an assist. Kalip Jones knocked down two treys to add to his two rebounds and two assists. Carrington Young added four points to go along with four rebounds and four assists.
The second half saw both teams go back and forth, matching baskets. The Panthers would bring it within one point inside five minutes and a Rashad Reed trey would tie the game at 62 with 3:15 to play, but the Tigers would answer right back with a 9-1 run to shut the door. Hampden-Sydney outscored the Panthers 34-18 inside the paint, proving to be the difference in the game.
Wyatt continued his success in the second half for the Tigers, scoring 12 points on 4-4 shooting from the field. Hahn also found success across the board, recording nine points and five rebounds. Ryan Clements was close behind with eight points and four assists. For Ferrum, Madden-McAfee picked up right where he left off in the first half, scoring 14 points to again lead all scorers in the closing stanza to add to his four rebounds and three assists. Nick Helton had a big half for the Panthers as well, scoring 11 points off the bench. Young chased down six rebounds and added five points of his own, but it was not enough in the end.
