By Taylor Chitwood, Sports Info. Student Assistant

GREENSBORO, North Carolina -- The Ferrum College men's basketball team traveled to Ragan-Brown Fieldhouse Wednesday night and came away with their second win in as many tries this season against Guilford College, 60-53. The two teams met earlier in the year at Swartz Gymnasium, with the Panthers topping the 19th-ranked Quakers 68-65.

RECORDS
Ferrum (10-10, 5-6 ODAC)
Guilford (14-7, 6-6 ODAC)

THE BASICS
The Panthers jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead through the first five minutes of the opening stanza as Rashad Reed had five of the first 10 Panther points. The rest of the first half was played back-and-forth, with neither team able to grab onto a big advantage. The early Panther advantage proved to be the biggest lead of the half, but Guilford would use a Kyler Gregory jumper inside the paint with 15 ticks left to take the 31-29 advantage into the halftime break.

Reed was able to get off to a hot start for the Panthers, recording nine first-half points. Kajuan Madden-McAfee was close behind with seven points to add to his two rebounds and two steals. Carrington Young was all over the floor for Ferrum in the first half as well, scoring four points and chasing down five boards. For Guilford, Liam Ward led the way with 10 points to lead all scorers in the half. Gregory had a big half as well for the Quakers, recording eight points and six rebounds.

The second half was played back-and-forth, much like the first, with the Quakers holding the lead the first 10 minutes. The Panthers would then outscore Guilford 20-7 across 8:16 of gameplay to take a 58-49 lead from a Madden-McAfee trey with 2:40 to play. That three proved to be the biggest Panther lead and enough to shut the door on the Quakers. Ferrum would hang on to win with a clutch Young layup with 40 seconds left as the Panthers outscored Guilford 31-22 in the closing stanza.

Young was the engine of the Panther rally in the second half, adding nine points and four rebounds to his stat line. Reed had a strong half as well, recording 10 points. Madden-McAfee played well in the closing stanza as well for Ferrum, chasing down seven boards to add to his six points. Jaylen Gore led the way for the Quakers, scoring eight points. Gregory was close behind with five points to go along with his five rebounds and Tyler Dearman added three points and four rebounds.

BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"Great team win for us tonight. We grinded it out the whole game, it was not pretty but I'm glad we were able to get it done. Our effort defensively and on the glass in the second half was the difference. I'm proud of our fight." --Head Coach Tyler Sanborn
