THE BASICS
Ferrum found the glass first with a quick 5-0 lead courtesy of two Darius Kemp layups and a Michael Spraggins free throw. The Quakers found their way on the board at the 16:58 mark shortly after a 30-second timeout and used a 10-0 run to grab a 10-5 lead at 13:21.

Ferrum battled back over the next eight minutes to take a 25-20 lead with just under five minutes left in the first half, before the two teams would play an intense back and forth series and maintain a two point differential. Liam Ward's layup in the final seconds of the half allowed Guilford to take a 35-32 lead into the break.

The Quakers led by as many as 10 points late in the game, 63-53, with 1:17 left in regulation. Despite last minutes efforts by James Smith Jr. and his three-point shooting, Guilford hung on and secured the win over the Panthers.

BEHIND THE WHISTLE
"Tough one this afternoon, proud of our effort defensively and on the glass. We really struggled in the second half to score the ball. Credit to them for being extremely disciplined and preventing us from getting to the paint, which is what we live off. It was a tough, physical battle, hate to lose, but we got better today." –Head Coach Tyler Sanborn

NEXT UP
Sanborn's team will be back in action Saturday and Sunday, December 18-19, with a pair of non-conference games at the Hampden-Sydney Classic in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. The Panthers tip off against Maryville (Tenn.) College Saturday at 4:00 p.m., then face University of Mary Washington Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
