THE BASICS
Virginia Wesleyan jumped out to a 10-4 lead early on, including a three-pointer each from Corey Pelham and Jordan Crump.
James Smith Jr.'s layup at the 15:51 mark capped a 7-4 mini-run by the Panthers and made it a 14-11 game. The Marlins widened the lead to 10 points at the break.
Virginia Wesleyan extended its lead to 12 points two minutes into the second half, then slowly started to pull away. Pelham's three-pointer at 3:47 of the second half gave his team its largest lead of the game, a 21-point differential, at 85-64.
The Panthers closed the game with an 8-4 run from there, including a three-pointer each from Smith and Bryce Hall, and a pair of free throws from Kajuan Madden-McAfee.
