SALEM, Virginia — Ferrum College's track and field team delivered impressive performances this weekend, highlighted by standout individual finishes and solid relay results. Multiple athletes achieved personal bests, and several earned top spots across various events.
Men's Events:
- Jahmal Jones continued his exceptional season with a standout performance in the Men's 60m, finishing 4th overall with a time of 6.88, ranking him #44 nationally in DIII for the 2025 season. In the Men's 60m prelims, Jones posted a strong 6.92 to qualify for the final.
- In the Men's 200m, Jones placed 11th with a time of 22.76, while Deontae Lawson followed closely in 15th with a time of 23.34.
- Jordan Smith, a freshman, made his mark with a 5th-place finish in the Men's 400m with a time of 50.60, while Na-Shawn Greene finished 9th in 50.79.
- In the Men's 800m, Kayden Ryder crossed the line in 7th with a time of 1:59.22, earning valuable points for the team.
Field Events:
- Max Madsen, competing in his first year, continued to impress with a 6th-place finish in the Men's High Jump at 1.85m (6-00.75). He also took 4th in the Men's Long Jump with a leap of 6.63m (21-09.00) and earned 3rd in the Men's Triple Jump with a mark of 13.27m (43-06.50).
- Deontae Lawson also had a solid performance in the Men's Long Jump, finishing 10th with a jump of 6.37m (20-10.75).
Shot Put and Weight Throw:
- Kyle Holcomb showed impressive form in the Men's Shot Put, finishing 19th with a mark of 11.04m (36-02.75), while in the Men's Weight Throw, Holcomb placed 14th with a throw of 12.67m (41-07.00).
Men's Relays:
Women's Events:
- In the Women's Long Jump, Airiana Beverley placed 19th with a jump of 4.49m (14-08.75), and Emma Kelley finished 23rd with a leap of 4.20m (13-09.50).
