BOONE, North Carolina - The Ferrum College track and field team traveled to Boone, North Carolina to compete at the Mountaineer First Chance meet, hosted by Appalachian State University. The Panthers had some outstanding performances. Freshman Jahmal Jones finished 2nd in the 100 m Dash with a time of 10.45 seconds.  Frehman Jordan Smith won the 400m Dash with a time of 49.34 seconds.
 

Women's Javelin Throw:

• Lilian Bigger (Freshman) made a strong debut with a throw of 18.48 meters (60 feet, 8 inches).

Men's Javelin Throw:

• DaMauri McPherson (Senior) finished 9th with a throw of 40.86 meters.

Men's Hammer Throw:

• Kyle Holcomb (Sophomore) placed 18th with a throw of 35.03 meters.

Women's High Jump:

• Ariana Beverley (Senior) cleared 1.35 meters, finishing 9th.

Men's High Jump:

• Max Madsen (Freshman) and Jaiden Childress (Sophomore) both cleared 1.80 meters, placing 6th.

Women's Shot Put:

• Lilian Bigger (Freshman) finished 16th with a throw of 7.45 meters.

• Sara Rah (Sophomore) placed 17th with a throw of 6.36 meters.

Men's Shot Put:

• Kyle Holcomb (Sophomore) finished 24th with a throw of 11.22 meters.

• Elijah Joyner (Sophomore) placed 30th with a throw of 9.73 meters.

• Jaylon Hillman (Junior) finished 33rd with a throw of 7.58 meters.

Women's Long Jump:

• Ariana Beverley (Senior) finished 19th with a jump of 4.36 meters.

• Emma Kelley (Sophomore) placed 20th with a jump of 4.30 meters.

Men's Long Jump:

• Max Madsen (Freshman) placed 4th with a jump of 6.56 meters.

• Na-Shawn Greene (Senior) finished 6th with a jump of 6.28 meters.

Men's 4x100 Meter Relay:

• The relay team of Na-Shawn Greene, Deontae Lawson, Jordan Smith, and Jahmal Jones won first place with a time of 43.28 seconds.

Men's 1500m Run:

• Kayden Ryder (Junior) finished 28th with a time of 4:39.46.

Women's 100m Dash:

• Ariana Beverley (Sophomore) placed 24th with a time of 13.69 seconds.

Men's Discus Throw:

• Kyle Holcomb (Sophomore) finished 22nd with a throw of 33.35 meters.

Men's 100 Meter Dash:

• Jahmal Jones (Freshman) finished 2nd with a time of 10.45 seconds.

• Max Madsen (Freshman) placed 15th with a time of 11.04 seconds.

Men's 200 Meter Dash:

• Jahmal Jones (Freshman) finished 3rd with a time of 21.50 seconds.

Men's 400 Meter Dash:

• Jordan Smith (Freshman) claimed 1st place with a time of 49.34 seconds.

Men's 800 Meter Run:

• Kayden Ryder (Junior) finished 17th with a time of 2:17.52.

Men's 400 Meter Hurdles:

• Logan McClung (Junior) placed 8th with a time of 1:03.33.

Women's 200 Meter Dash:

• Ariana Beverley (Sophomore) finished 32nd with a time of 28.70 seconds.

The team is back in action on March 28th -29th at the Dr. Jack M Toms Alumni Invitational hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
