GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Ferrum College women's golf team opened their season at the Lynn Schweizer Invitational over the weekend. The two-round tournament was played at the Denison Golf Club at Granville, a par-72 course that measures 5805 yards, and was hosted by Denison University.

THE BASICS
Emory University won the overall tournament with a team total of 590, host Denison University finished second with a 628 and Stevenson University rounded out the podium with a team total of 646.

Emory also laid claim to the top three finishes on the individual side, with Ellen Dong and Irene Wang sharing the title with an even-par 144, and Sharon Mun was one stroke off at 145.

Jiwanan Masoot led the way for the Panthers, scrambling for a two-day total of 158, a new school record, after a first-round 81 and a second-round 77 (also a new school record). Hunter Tharpe turned in a first-round 92 and a second-round 91 for a two-day 183. Caroline King's two-day score of 190 with a first-round 90 and second-round 100 rounded out the Ferrum card.

"Overall the ladies played really well this weekend. We had some first tournament jitters but once we got over that we played pretty well! We were lead by sophomore Jiwanan Masoot with a recording breaking performance for one and two days total! UP NEXT
Head Coach Erick Cox's team will head to Lakeview Golf Club, in Bridgewater, Virignia, to take part in the Bridgewater Invitational spanning September 20-21. The two-day tournament is set to be hosted by Bridgewater College.
